Melodies of the Periodic Table
Inspired by Stanley Jordan's musical interpretation of the periodic table. Watch his amazing performance here.
This project maps the ionization energies of elements to frequencies of sound. Ionization energy is the energy required to remove an electron from an atom. We use the formula f = E / h
to convert ionization energy (E) to frequency (f), where h
is Planck's constant (6.626 × 10-34
Js). This allows us to create unique sounds for each element based on their ionization energies.
